ANTIBACTERIAL - HOW IT WORKS

The Polygiene-treated of Schaufenberger® fabrics prevents the growth of odor-causing bacteria at the source. Polygiene uses low concentrations of silver salt (silver chloride), which has antimicrobial properties. The treatment is applied at the finishing stages of textile production. Field and lab tests show a high level of odor control beyond the usual lifespan of a garment. Polygiene silver salt technology is only active on the textiles itself. Polygiene is not nanosilver.
The silver salt (AgCl, silver chloride) in Polygiene inhibits and guards against the growth of odors from microbes such as bacteria, fungus and mildew. The Body’s Sweat is a natural response to any physical activity. The cooling and heat dispersing actions of up to 2.6 million sweat glands (20% is located on your feet) in the average human body are essential to help us to perform and keep us comfortable. Sweat itself is natural and odorless, but mixed with textiles it creates a moist and warm environment, which is ideal for odor causing bacteria to multiply and grow. The bad odor is released as bacteria break down proteins and fatty acids present in sweat.

SKIN FRIENDLY

Polygiene has its heritage in the healthcare sector and has undergone extensive skin sensitivity testing. Polygiene particles are more than 100 times larger than nanoparticles and therefore are too large to penetrate to the skin’s barrier. Polygiene-treated fabrics have received Medical Class 1 approval in Europe, the same class that includes bandages for direct contact with open wounds.
No interference with bacteria naturally occurring on the skin – Polygiene is active only on the material’s surface and does not interfere with bacteria naturally found on the skin, even when used for long periods of time. Tests also conclude that there is no identified risk from dermal and oral contact with silver treatments. Polygiene is not nano silver.
That means it is eco friendly and has no negative environmental impact at all.

Washing and drying accounts for two thirds (2/3) of the environmental impact of a product. Polygiene treated textiles do not need to be washed as often, which saves water, energy, time and money as well as improve the lifespan of a product.
